Land to the East Side of Shop Lane, Bursledon January 2019

Eastleigh Borough Council continued with their Local Plan Review through the latter half of 2018 and the draft Local Plan was submitted for examination on the 31 October 2018 with a Planning Inspector being appointed on 7 November 2018. We await the publication of the examination hearing timetable which is due in January/February 2019.

Eastleigh remain under increased pressure to deliver a viable Local Plan that can deliver 16,250 homes of which there remains a shortfall of 5,600 yet to allocated. Compounding this is an additional 2000 dwellings that will need to be identified as overflow from Southampton. The council also remain on "notice" from National Government having been written to by the Secretary of State warning them of potential intervention due to their slow progress in the preparation of their Local Plan.

Specific to Bursledon, the presence of the recently approved Kingfisher Grange development by Taylor Wimpey will result in significantly increased pressure on the already heavily congested Hamble Lane. This means that an alternative, traffic alleviation program will have to be developed which will need to utilize our site.

We are pleased to announce that, having secured planning permission for a neighbouring site know as Cranberry Gardens, a successful sale to Taylor Wimpey was concluded in November last year meaning that our site is directly linked to the Kingfisher Grange development.
